FAQ’s: All You Need to Know About Laserlite Polycarbonate Roofing

Laserlite is a polycarbonate roofing brand commonly used in homes and outdoor structures like patios, carports, and pergolas. It's a lightweight, durable roofing material that can withstand extreme weather conditions like hail, heavy rain, and scorching sun.

One of the advantages of using Laserlite polycarbonate roofing is its ability to let natural light in while still protecting you from the elements. Laserlite polycarbonate roofing also comes in various colours and profiles, so you can choose the one that best suits your home or outdoor space.  Whether you prefer a clear or tinted roof, Laserlite has got you covered.

What is Laserlite polycarbonate roofing?

Laserlite is a polycarbonate roofing sheet designed to let in natural light while being strong, durable, and weather-resistant. It's often used for outdoor living areas, pergolas, carports, and other structures where you want to let in sunlight but still be protected from the elements.

How long does Laserlite polycarbonate roofing last?

Laserlite polycarbonate roofing can last up to 25 years with proper installation and maintenance. It's resistant to cracking, fading, and yellowing, and it's designed to withstand harsh Australian weather conditions like hail, wind, and rain.

Is Laserlite polycarbonate roofing easy to install?

Laserlite polycarbonate roofing is easy to install for those who are familiar with roofing installation. It's lightweight and comes in large sheets, which makes it quicker and easier to install than traditional roofing materials.

Can you walk on a polycarbonate sheet?

In general, most polycarbonate sheeting products are not designed to support the weight of a person walking on them, and doing so can cause damage or cracking. It's always best to check with the manufacturer or an expert installer before walking on any polycarbonate roofing or sheeting. Use a secure ladder or scaffold system to avoid damage or injury if you need to access your roof or other structures for maintenance or cleaning.

How can you clean a polycarbonate sheet?

There are a few options to consider. One of the easiest and most effective ways is to use warm soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge. You can also use a mild household cleaner that is safe for use on plastic surfaces but be sure to avoid any harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could scratch or damage the sheeting. When cleaning polycarbonate sheeting, it's important to rinse thoroughly with clean water and avoid using high-pressure water or steam cleaners, as these can also cause damage to the sheeting. With proper cleaning and maintenance, your polycarbonate sheeting can stay clear and bright for years.

Here is a list of things to use to clean a polycarbonate sheet:

  1. Mild soap or detergent: A solution of mild soap or detergent and water effectively cleans a polycarbonate sheet. Mix a small amount of soap or detergent with warm water and use a soft cloth or sponge to clean the sheet.
  2. Microfiber cloth: A microfiber cloth is an excellent tool for cleaning polycarbonate sheets. It's soft and gentle on the surface and won't scratch or damage the material.
  3. Water hose: If you have a large polycarbonate sheet or a high roof, you can use a water hose to rinse off any dirt or debris. Be careful not to use too much water pressure as it can damage the material.
  4. Soft bristle brush: A soft-bristled brush can help remove stubborn stains or debris from the surface of a polycarbonate sheet. Be gentle and avoid using a brush with hard or abrasive bristles that can scratch the material.

Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, or tools that scratch or damage the polycarbonate sheet. Also, always test any cleaning solution or tool on a small, inconspicuous area of the sheet first to ensure it won't damage the material.
