A Comprehensive Guide to Laserlite 2000

In the market for roofing supplies? Whether you’re planning to renovate or perhaps investing in a new build, polycarbonate roofing is without a doubt one of the best options on the market. Laserlite polycarbonate sheets, in particular, are tough, versatile, and perfect for outdoor spaces.

Laserlite is an Australian-based manufacturer, marketer and distributor of building supplies, and their Polycarbonate range is widely renowned throughout the local roofing industry. They currently manufacture the only roofing sheets with Advanced Weatherguard technology, a feature that allows it to withstand Australia’s harsh weather conditions.

Today, we’re going to explore the various forms of Laserlite 2000 Polycarbonate Roofing, and give a quick rundown of everything you need to know.

What Makes Laserlite 2000 Unique?

Within the greater Polycarbonate collection, Laserlite 2000 is known as the ‘classic, high performance’ range. The 2000 collection also comes in various shades that each have their own unique light and comfort levels. This is very important to note before you buy, which is why it never hurts to speak with a roofing supplier to find out more!

A Variety of Lengths & Sizes

Unless you live in a larger housing complex, residential spaces usually have a unique set of spatial requirements and demands. Luckily, Laserlite 2000 is available in a wide range of different lengths. These include 1.8m, 2.4m, 3.6m, 4.2m, 4.8m, 5.4m, 6.0m, 7.2m, and 9.0m.

Lifetime Platinum Warranty

Durability is a hallmark of Laserlite 2000 sheets, and this is reflected in the generous warranty packages that you receive with each purchase. This includes a Lifetime Warranty for the loss of light transmission, as well as a 10-year warranty for unexpected weather breakage. By going with the Laserlite brand, you’re also guaranteed to receive a product with no defects or damage from faulty manufacturing.

Advanced Weatherguard Technology

As we touched on earlier, only Laserlite has Advanced Weatherguard Technology. This is a special protective material that is warranted to:

  • Extend the life of the sheet by up to 50%
  • Maintain sheet colour and clarity up to 50% longer
  • Provide 99.9% protection from UV rays up to 50% longer
  • Resist 25% larger hailstones

It’s no secret that Australian homes have to deal with a vast range of weather extremes. While UV rays, rain, wind, and hail all have the potential to damage polycarbonate roofing, this built-in technology embedded in the Laserlite collection protects the sheet for many years to come.

Comfort Cool

This is another related benefit of installing Laserlite Roofing. While you’re out enjoying your outdoor spaces, Comfort Cool technology allows you to receive light without breaking a sweat (which is particularly important if you live in a city or town with a warmer climate).

Whether you’re eating outside, entertaining friends and family, or simply taking some time to relax, the 2000 range offers up to 50% better heat reduction than run-of-the-mill corrugated sheets. What’s more, this technology even helps to reduce the glare when you’re outdoors!

More Features

UV Protection Laserlite

2000 Polycarbonate Roofing prevents the transmission of more than 99.9% of harmful UV radiation, and is measured to comply with ISO 9050:2003 standards. The UV barrier protects the sheet from UV degradation and discolouration. It also remains stable under extreme climatic conditions (-30C° to +120°C).

Wind Load

Laserlite 2000 Polycarbonate Roofing is suitable for use in high wind load areas. Corrugated, Greca and 5-Rib profiles meet the requirements of AS 1170.2.2002 SAA Loading code

Corrugated and Greca profiles also meet the requirements of TR440 (Guidelines for the testing and evaluation of products for cyclone prone areas) for fatigue loading, for the permissible stress design pressure of 3.0kPa, for a multiple span of 600mm end span and 900mm internal spans using 14 gauge hex head screws with cyclone assemblies.

Fire Performance

Laserlite® 2000 Polycarbonate Roofing is self extinguishing, stops the spread of flame, and also has excellent fire resistant properties. Therefore, this product complies with many fire related tests, including Heat and Smoke Release Rates (AS/NZS 3837:1998) and Early Fire Hazard Test (AS 1530.3-1999).

Laserlite Roofing Accessories

In case you’re unfamiliar with Laserlite products, let’s quickly outline their key features and benefits. Whether you purchase from the 2000 or 3000 collection, every sheet comes with:

  • Noise stop tape to reduce creaking
  • Eave infill strips to prevent rain, dust, and wind
  • Barge capping to prevent wind and rain from entering the gable ends
  • Ridge capping to stop leaks at the apex
  • Back channel and infill to stop leaking at the walls and fascias
  • Apron flashing to prevent leakage
  • Quality accessories to help with installation
  • One Shot Fixing Screws that reduce installation time by 50%

As you can see, Laserlite products are durable, easy to install, and built to withstand the challenges posed by Australia’s unpredictable weather conditions. Another key benefit, of course, is the ability to allow light to filter through, all while protecting you from wind and rain. This makes them a great alternative to solid roofing that will block out all of the light.
